Open Gym

Very Excited and Super Proud to see so many team members at Open Gym tonight!!

Freezing Friday

The gym will still be open tonight for open gym if you are wanting to come in and work out 5-8.

Times have changed a bit for Saturday...

I need all cheerleaders at Robert Morris no later than 10:30 am. You must be fully uniformed, make uped, with hair done and bow in by 10:30. If you need help with this please let me know so we can arrange to meet earlier. Our scheduled warm up time is 11:30, Our scheduled performance time is 11:50.

I would suggest that you sew your hair bow into your pony tail as we did in Indy. please make sure you sew it threw the small hole in the clip base then threw the fastener on one side, then threw the pony tail holder and pony tail, then threw the small hole on the other side of the clip. The first step insures that your daughters clip is sewn shut and will not come open while she is cheering.

I have been asked to let everyone know that a group of parents are planning on going out to eat after the competition. If you are interested in joining in on the fun please contact Stacey - you can text or call her at 724 350 4262 or e-mail her at staceyalt@msn.com

The girls had a good practice last night! I look forward to seeing them on the competition floor tomorrow!! Once again I would like to say how proud I am of Marissa and Kayleigh for stepping up and doing what needed to be done for the pyramid this week, Great Job Girls!!!!

I hope to see you tonight, if not I will see you tomorrow morning!

Stay Warm -
Kaitlin

"It's not the will to win that matters - everyone has that. It's the will to prepare to win that matters." Paul "Bear" Bryant

I came across that quote today and it really hit home. We have not had a full team practice since before Indy. I already know we will not have everyone on Wednesday and I am not sure who will show up on Monday and Thursday. We are a team and when even one team member misses a practice the entire team suffers at competition. I want the girls to enjoy cheering at Gymsport but that is not the main reason we are a part of a competitive cheerleading team. And let me tell you, it’s a lot more fun when we are winning. I just want to prepare all of you for the possibility of us coming in last place on Saturday as well as the possibility of us not receiving our bid to nationals. I say this, not because I do not have faith in the girls or in the routine, but simply because I feel we are not as prepared, as a team, as we could and should be. As of now we are against 4 other teams on Saturday.

I need the girls to be at the competition by 11am – please make sure you leave time to park and walk to the venue from the parking lot.
We are scheduled to compete around 12:20 and awards should be over by 2.
If this changes I will let you know, these are only tentative times.

This week’s practice schedule – Monday 6-8, Wednesday 6-8:30, Thursday 6-8:30, Open gym Friday 5-8 (optional but suggested)

Pictures?

If you took pictures at the first two competitions and would like to share them with me please either put them on a disc and give them to me at the gym or e-mail them to me.
Thank you

What a good weekend in Indy!!!

Scott and I are very proud of the girls! Not only did they do very well for their first major competition but they are starting to really come together as a team.

We did have 3 pts in deductions on Saturday and 2.5 pts in deductions on Sunday for stunt falls, so that hindered our placement with in our division. There were only 9 pts separating 1st place from 10th place in our division.

It is time to work hard and keep up attendance. We compete on Jan. 9th at Robert Morris for our bid to Baltimore Nationals. We must score high enough on the 9th to receive an invitation to compete in Baltimore.

Also as I am sure you noticed this weekend, tumbling is a large part of the routine. The more girls you have performing the skills the higher your score goes up and the higher you place in your division. Right now we have 7 girls doing standing back handsprings and 8 doing round off back handsprings. With 16 girls on the team that number needs to be higher if we expect to place higher. The gym offers several tumbling classes each week as well as private lessons and open gym on Fridays (free to competitive team members). Please encourage your daughters to get those tumbling skills.

This next month is going to be spent working on cleaning up the routine, building up stamina, and working on the girls energy and facials while performing.

A HUGE thank you to all the parents this weekend for the love and support you surround the entire team with! Words can't express how much it means to us to have you all working towards the greater good of the team! Thank you for the food this weekend, the taking in of kids that aren't your own, the hair spray, the booby pins, the pony tail holders, and anything else I am missing. You are WONDERFUL!!

So Thank You!!!
